We put a (squirrel-proof) bird feeder in our back yard recently. It looks
like word has gotten around. A couple of evenings this week we've seen a
pair of cardinals at the feeder (the female on the feeder and the male
working the spilled seeds on the ground). We had plenty of cardinals last
summer, but hadn't seen any in months.

This morning drinking coffee on the patio we saw the cardinals (the male
and female taking turns on the feeder), a blue jay, two red-headed
woopeckers, and a red-winged blackbird. We had not seen any woodpeckers or
blackbirds here before. We later heard one of the woodpeckers up in a dead
pine tree at the back of our yard.

We love our backyard!
