My daughter called at 6:30 this morning. Grandson was in the hospital with
appendicitis. She had taken him to the hospital on her insurance plan, but
they don't operate on children under 14, so he was sent by ambulance over
to the university hospital. Appendix came out this afternoon. It was a bit
surreal. He had to wait until an operating room became available. We had
been told that would likely be late today, but they took him from his room
to pre-op at noon. There was another wait in pre-op, and he didn't come out
of surgery until about 3:00.
