Error attaching document - Bug in GW8?

We just updated to GW8 running on SLES10 OES2 I am getting an error on all computers when we do one particular procedure and I'm wondering if this is a bug. Under certain conditions, when we try to attach a document reference from the document management system, we get this error:

    E823: Invalid transport server identifier.

If I open a new email, click attach, click "Document Reference", and then select a document from the list, everything works perfectly. It attaches and sends.

But, if I click attach, Document Reference, and then click the Find button, any document I select from the find dialog generates the error.

Can someone please try to duplicate these steps and see if you get the same error? If so, I think it is a bug. If not, I need some suggestions on where to start looking.

    Thanks for your help!

    Matt

Yep, I can duplicate that one. I'll forward it to Novell

    Thanks.

What typically happens next? Do you think it will be fixed by the next support pack? Or a field test patch?

I want to pass something along to the users.

Hopefully it will make it into SP1 - but it is too late for the first GW8
hot patch, as that is scheduled to be out soon. I'll let you know when I
get a response from Novell. Mind you, we may get lucky and it has already
been fixed in the upcoming HP1 patch, but I haven't looked at that yet.

    Cheers Dave

The fix has been checked in, so it should definitely be in Sp1, and may be
available sooner if there is an HP2 patch between now and the full Sp1
    release.

    Cheers Dave

    Dave,

We too are seeing this problem, and the strange thing is that it only seems to happen on (1) user.

If I simply select the "Documents" folder, and have GW8 populate the document number field, then it appears that I can type in any document # and it attaches the document okay.

However, if you just go to "Document Reference" and try to type in the document number, you get the E823 error.

I'm not able to duplicate this problem. Is it possible that the user's default library has changed? Tools | Options | Documents | Library Configuration -> Set Default. When you enter just a document number it uses the default library as a way of scoping it. When you attach a doc, the document's library is filled in automatically so that you don't have this problem.

Re: Error attaching document - Bug in GW8?

    Dan,

    We only have 1 library...

The strange part is that we cannot duplicate this problem except for one user.

For some odd reason, as long as we select "Documents" from the left-hand pane, instead of leaving the default on "Mailbox", it allows us to specify a document.

Otherwise, we get an "E823: transport server identifier." error.

    Strange!

    Aloha,
    Jonathan

And that user does actually have a default library set ?

Re: Error attaching document - Bug in GW8?

    Yes sir.

    Default library set...

Is there a way to scrub the users' "Document Reference" list? Could that somehow be the culprit here?

Do we need to to a GWCHECK against this one user?

    Aloha,
    Jonathan
