I have three servers, X1, X2 and X3, all running Netware 6.5 sp7. No
clustering. Different pools and volumes on each server. Each server holds a

Today, one of the drives in X1's RAID 5 array died. I have an order in for a
replacement and it should arrive in 3 to 5 business days. Until then the
server will be running in "degraded array" mode, but it's operational. Once
the new drive arrives, I'll simply install it, the RAID array will rebuild
and the "crisis" will be over.

However, this incident got me to thinking, if I lose another drive in this
machine, and therefore lose the RAID array, what are my options for
"re-creating" X1?

Now, the data (SYS, assorted volumes for files) on X1 is backed up every
night, incrementally, onto tape, so I can re-install that.

What I would appreciate is someone pointing me to a set of instructions
outlining what one would do if one had to recreate this server X1, either
installing from scratch onto new hardware, or the same hardware but with all
new hard drives.

I presume that I start by installing Netware 6.5sp7 from CD, recreating all
pools and volumes as they exist on the current system. Do I use the same
name as the old server? Or do I give it a new name, with the intention of
renaming it back to X1 at a later date? Further instructions would be

I look forward to your response.
