I just discovered that files copied to a NSS volume via Samba (from a
PC without Novell Client) are flagged "execute only", whereas files
copied via NCP and the Novell Client do not get this flag set.

This can be checked via C1 or Remote Manager or via attrib at the
server console (there it is shown as "ex").

This is very annoying from a backup perspective, because those files
are not backed up. Normal use (read, write, modify) is not affected by
this attribute neither via Samba nor via NCP.

My opinion on this topic is, that this attribute seems to be obsolete
and should be removed entirely.

Did anybody check file attributes at their DSfW servers and see this,
