Until last Wednesday we received our Internet connection from an upstream
proxy. This was changed Thursday morning and we were given our own uncached,
unfiltered connection routed through the firewall upstream to our "Public"
address (actually 172.16.44.x). This was fine until we got back to work
yesterday morning and found our BM server soft abending 2 or 3 times an hour
and certain outbound ports were blocked.

Contacting the upstream admins it would appear that over the weekend they
have installed Packeteer ( http://www.packeteer.com ) and this is why the
ports were blocked but has anyone had problems where Packeteer caused BM to
crash, specifically ACLCHECK.NLM. The server is NW6SP3 with the server.exe
update to produce dates in the ABEND.LOG and BM37SP2.

There are a couple of TIDs at Novell where Packeteer has caused abends in
iChain but nothing specific to BM. At Packeteer there is also a reference to
a setting which can have an impact on Netware servers.

The upstream admins are coming to see us tomorrow and so I would like to
have as much information as possible to confront them with.

Thanks for reading and for any replies.

P.S. The first part of the ABEND.LOG is pasted below if anyone has any other
ideas. I have also posted in the NW6 Abends newsgroup with this but on a
slightly different theme.
