On a semi-regular basis, every machine on campus will be notified
(repeatedly) that there is an IP address conflict with another system on the

The conflicting MAC is usually faked (today's was F2:98:63:C4:F2:29) and the
machines lose network connectivity. The user has to respond 'OK' to the
conflict message about 50 times before work can resume.

I am certain it's one or more students doing this, but I don't know if it's
just for fun (!) or for something more sinister.

Does anyone know what software they might be using, or what technique
they're employing? Might there be any way to stop this madness?
