First, I'll preface this by saying that I know that MAPI is not recommended.
However, we have very little recourse.

We have a function in our program which will create a new mail item in the
sent items folder of the MAPI client. Our code that does this has special
handling for GroupWise. For GroupWise, there is a comment that any item
that gets created in the Sent Items folder gets moved automatically by
GroupWise to the Mailbox. So what we do is create a "PM Sent Items" folder
as a subfolder of the Sent Items folder and create our mail items there. I
can only assume that this worked sometime in the past - I wasn't involved
with this project at the time this code was originally written.

A client reported that this doesn't occur - no "PM Sent Items" folder gets
created. The client is using GroupWise 7.0.1. So I tested it with
GroupWise 7.0.2 and sure enough, I get an access denied error when trying to
create the "PM Sent Items" folder. So I tried creating this folder by hand
under the Sent Items folder, and by the UI there doesn't seem to be any way
to create a subfolder of the Sent Items folder. I'm not expecting so, but
is there any way to create a subfolder of the Sent Items folder?

So I tested to see if the initial case still holds - that any items created
in the Sent Items folder will get automatically moved to the MailBox. When
I tried to do this (using MAPI code), all of the calls returned S_OK, but no
mail item appeared. I searched through every folder in GroupWise and can't
find it. Where did it go?

So the main questions are:

1) Is there some problem with creating a mail item in the Sent Items folder?
2) Is there any way to create a subfolder of the Sent Items folder?

I've considered creating the mail item elsewhere (probably in the Mailbox)
and then moving it to the Sent Items folder, but haven't tried it yet.
Would that work?

Thank you,
Mark Smith
