This might be the wrong place, but I'll post it anyway. I'm thinking about using a server with a BIG disk pool (5-6 TB) to serve as a pseudo NAS. I would like to use rsync to do block duplication of files from linux servers, netware servers, and windows servers to this storage pool and then use our backup product and our tape library to suck the data off of the storage pool to tape. Has anyone done this? What are the pitfalls? One that I can think of right off the bat is OS rights and other properties that are associated with a file but not part of the data file itself. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
