Our environment:

ZCM 10 on SLES10 SP2
Satellite Imaging Server on Windows 2003 Standard
Both are on a VMware SAN.

I got a call that no one could log in this morning. Workstations were halted after receiving a DHCP address via PDHCP, but were unable to contact the imaging server. For some reason this halted the machines and they would not boot unless the user bypassed the network boot process of receiving a DHCP address by hitting ESC.

I consoled into the imaging server and saw a windows error prompt saying that novell.zmgprebootpolicy.exe crashed.

Error specifics:

szAppName: novell-zmgprebootpolicy.exe szAppVer:
szModName: msvcr80.dll szModVer: 8.0.50727.3053 offset: 0001508e

C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERdbfb.dir00\n ovell-zmgprebootpolicy.exe.mdmp
C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERdbfb.dir00\a ppcompat.txt

I cannot find either of the files this error refers to.

Anyway, after rebooting the server all was well but this was "very bad" to put it lightly. Any clues as to WHY this happened?
