On an NSS volume, is it possible to create an alias of a folder?

So if I have "vol1:apps\folder_a", is there some way to create an alias on vol1 called "vol1:A" that would be a pointer to the former?

From what I've read, "hard links" can not be associated with folders. And "directory map" objects do not exist in the file system. So neither of those will work.
