We have found with the ESM client operating in a standalone/unmanaged mode on Windows XP that our policy disappears and the client reverts to its defaults if:
  • the laptop crashes
  • and sometimes if a forced restart is done by the user

This of course then leaves the laptop wide open with none of the security we need in place.

The client also loses its license and registration information, thus thinking it is back to being a trial version.

Has anyone else seen this or have any thoughts on how to correct the problem?
