We have remote administration configured on our OES2 server, and
connecting with VNC provides a login screen followed by the usual
console desktop.

Once the VNC connection is closed, the session completely resets and any
running applications are closed. This behaviour isn't typical for VNC
setups on other Linux servers I've worked with, and I'm wondering if
there's any way to configure VNC to allow for persistent sessions (so
that one could reconnect to a session in progress).
