I have an issue where the pxe process works fine, and when linux loads, my dhcp server isn't responding to the clients quickly enough. The clients in question are across a wan link / bootp forwarded, and my dhcp servers are overwhelmed at times.

There is a plan to eventually upgrade the dhcp servers, but in the mean time, is there a way either via a kernel parm that can be set or directly in the initrd image itself to make dhcp wait longer to get an address?

The boot process is failing because with no IP, it can't load the final boot/root or boot/settings.txt

Manually setting the ip isn't an option.
