Win XP SP3 Slipstream build

Novell Client 4.91 SP5 + updates to 17 June 2009.

We display the 802.1x tab, but we *don't* have "Login using 802.1x" checked.

Despite this (being disabled) the presence of the Novell Client starts the Wired Autoconfig service in Windows. This service by default checks the "Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication" checkbox under the Authentication tab that is available when the service is running.

The Wired Autoconfig service is set to start manually by default, and remains stopped without the Novell Client installed.

Shouldn't the Wired Autoconfig service *only* be started once we tick the "Login using 802.1x" checkbox in the Novell Client ? Disabled should be disabled surely ???

Does anyone know if this is by design or a bug ?
