Sorry... Dumb question:

I have created a script to make a backup of some of my files, and tried to run it as a nightly CRON job. The script runs fine when I execute it from the command line, but it does not seem to be working as a CRON job.

My problem, is that I don't know how to troubleshoot it. The only CRON entry I find is my /var/log/messages is:

Jul 5 21:05:01 gw /usr/sbin/cron[12992]: (root) CMD /media/nss/DATA/backup/

I'm guessing there is some way to get better debugging info logged, but I don't know where or how to enable it. Can anyone point my in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. Just in case someone is interested in how I setup the cron job, I simply appended the following line to my /etc/crontab file:

05 21 * * * root /media/nss/DATA/backup/
