I have been installing Novell Client 4.91 on to companies fleet of
Destops and Laptops. All work ok with the exception of the Toshiba
Tecra M2 laptops. When installing the client the NMAS component fails
(see below for error msg). The same source files have been used for
all other hardware platforms eliminating the source msi corruption
option.

I have just installed vanilla XP professional onto the Toshiba Tecra M2
laptop.

Didnt install any device drivers

Installed Novell Client 4.91 SP2

Exactly the same NMAS error occurred

Uninstalled 4.91 SP2

Rebooted

Tried installing 4.91 SP3 downloaded directly from Novell

Same problem occurred.

Uninstalled 4.91 SP3

Installed Toshiba Gigabit NIC drivers

Retried 4.91 SP3

Same problem again



The event logged in the eventlog is



Product: NMAS Client Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows
Installer Package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as
expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action
ncc_update, location C:\WINDOWS\system32\ncc.exe, command: -s c
update



ncc.exe is indeed missing at the point in time when the installer tries
to call it.



On any other model there is no issue ie the problem is specific to
the Tecra M2.



Any ideas?
