I am trying to establish a consensus on hyper-threading use for SLES10SP2 OES2 SP1?
This is especially in the context of novell services such as ncs, nss, edir and the ever hungry owcimomd(!)

Has anyone strong preferences or experience of performance benefits or degradation?

Way back when, under NetWare the consensus seemed to be that hyper threading was bad, as it wasn't really know if a 'cpu' was real or virtual, and 'important threads' (say something file system (nss), or edir) could get shoved onto a virtual cpu that had in effect 30% of the actual processing power....

As ever, thought and experiences sought!

Thanks in advance
