I haven't had a problem with a Netware server in so long I'm trying to make sure I do this correctly.

Problem: We had a hard drive failure on which the DATA volume resides and are unable to rebuild the drive so we need to replace the drives. The SYS volume remains intact but the Netware 6.5 SP7 DATA volume resides on the drives.

Question: What is the proper procedure for replacing the drives and restoring the data?

This is what I'm thinking:

1. Make sure we have a good backup of the server SYS and DATA volumes INCLUDING trustee rights.

2. Using NWConfig, verify the size of the DATA volume.

2. Dismount the DATA volume.

3. Replace the failed hardware drives.

4. Format the new hardware drives.

5. Now what? Do I have to create a Netware Partition on the new drives? Do I use NWConfig? Does the partition have to be the exact same size as the previous partition?

6. Restore the DATA volume with the Trustee rights.
