Good evening!

I am running OES 2.1 for file and print services on top of
SuSE 10.2. This is all running as a VMWare guest on an AMD
based Sun server x2200 host which is running Red Hat 5.3
with VMWare Server 2.

When I run the top command on my mail server, which is set
up the same way as my file server, I get 98% or higher idle
with no one logged in.

On my file server I get around 35% idle max, the rest of the
time is in si. Here's what it looks like:

top - 22:08:16 up 22 min, 2 users, load average: 0.19,
0.24, 0.44
Tasks: 246 total, 1 running, 245 sleeping, 0 stopped,
0 zombie
Cpu(s): 3.4%us, 2.1%sy, 0.0%ni, 31.8%id, 0.0%wa,
0.3%hi, 62.3%si, 0.0%st
Mem: 4046540k total, 2449304k used, 1597236k free,
43260k buffers
Swap: 4200988k total, 0k used, 4200988k free,
704488k cached

If my memory is correct, this means that the system is
waiting on IO about 60% of the time.

Am I correct in that?

Since the system is doing nothing with no one logged in, and
having just been rebooted, I don't see why there is much of
any IO at all, and certainly I don't see why I'm waiting on

sar doesn't give me much to go on. Yes,

Where should I be looking?
