Our organization is currently using GW IM 2.0.4 within it's IT department but there is interest in opening it up to the rest of the organization (6000 total employees; but no expectation that more than approx. 500 will ever use it with no more than a few hundred concurrently). The current messenger install is on a file/print/GW e-mail server at our corporate headquarters and our LDAP servers are located there as well. Approximately 5800 staff are located at 50 remote locations connected over an MPLS network.

Question: At what point should we consider moving GW IM to a dedicated server so it doesn't impact the other critical services running on it? Are there any performance concerns if we have several hundred IM clients connecting across WAN links?

Thanks,
Drew
