I read the info, but don't quite get how the stateful smtp filters
work, or
when to use them. We have an internal mail gateway that accepts mail

(filters and spam checks etc..) for our mail server. It has an
internal
address 10.0.1.27. BorderManager has a public address which is natted
to
this private address. We set up filter exceptions for regular and
secure
mail on 25 and 1025 on this private address, but I'm not sure weather
to
use the standard smtp or smtp-st. We set up inbound and outbound for
both
ports. From what I read on the forum, it seems like 4 regular filters
is
safer than 2 stateful filters. Also, I would still need inbound and outbound filters anyway, for incoming mail and outgoing mail. I that
case,
what's the value of stateful?

I'm confused. Any help would be appreciated.
