Hi,

a customer with OES2 Linux have a sister company with Windows 2003 server.
We want to access the Win 2003 DNS records (intern.example.com), DNS Server
is 172.16.100.1.
The OES2 DNS serves the zone example.local, 192.168.1.0/24.
I crated a forwarding zone on OES2 DNS and put the forwarder in place.

When I try to resolve a server in intern.example.com like
asterix.intern.example.com it will not work.

The log shows this error:

/var/log/messages:Nov 12 11:02:23 hlbs [NCPL]: transfer of
'intern.example.com/IN' from 172.16.100.1#53: failed to connect: timed out
/var/log/messages:Nov 12 11:02:23 hlbs [NCPL]: transfer of
'intern.example.com/IN' from 172.16.100.1#53: end of transfer
/var/log/messages:Nov 12 11:03:47 hlbs [NCPL]: transfer of
'intern.example.com/IN' from 172.16.100.1#53: shut down: operation canceled
/var/log/messages:Nov 12 11:03:47 hlbs [NCPL]: transfer of
'intern.example.com/IN' from 172.16.100.1#53: end of transfer

a "dig @172.16.100.1 asterix.intern.example.com" works without problems.

Do I have to change something on the Win 2003 DNS Server? Or did I overlook
something?

Thank you for your help.

Walter
