We are getting connected to the SWIFT network (this is the network most financial organistions use to transfer data concerning transactions). I've been told I should install a firewall to protect my organisation, which I will do, probably using Netware 6 (I've got a capable machine and would rather use this than go and buy an off the shelf device).

I'm told that I must set the Firewall to have a TCP timeout of 60 minutes. What is this? Do I need to configure this?

Also, I've been provided a list of ports to open up (all TCP except DNS UDP). However, they haven't told me what ports need to be open to let the return traffic. Should I use Stateful filtering exceptions or generic TCP and UDP return exceptions - or something else.
