Windows XP SP3 and Novell Client 4.91.4 or 4.91.5 and Zenworks 7. This problem has existed for a long time, but has gone from being an annoyance to a real issue as our users more frequently try to work from home via Windows Remote Desktop.

If a Windows computer has been left powered up overnight (user logged out), and runs Windows automatic updates which require a restart, the PC will hang in the "Windows Shutting Down" stage. All it takes is touching the mouse or keyboard and the computer will complete shutdown and restart. But of course, if the user is away and trying to connect from his home, Windows Remote Desktop will not connect and the user must phone someone who can go "wake up" the PC so it can reboot. This can be very troublesome if a tech support person needs to do something from home on a weekend, or "snow day" when no one is around to do the legwork.

This problem only occurs on computers with the Novell client and Zenworks agent, so I that's why I'm looking here for a solution. Does anyone have an idea what could cause this to happen?

Thanks in advance for all suggestions.
