Windows 2003 R2 - fully patched
Groupwise 801 - single domain, 10 post offices, GWIA, WebAccess

Our backup (Backup Exec 11d) used to run 8-10 hours (85GB) with GW7, but are now running 15 hours (95GB) with GW8. We upgraded from 7 to 8 on the same server hardware.

One suggestion has been to run Microsoft disk defrag on the server ... has anyone experience with this? And should I shut down services while this process runs?

Our other Win servers backup at 10-20 times the throughput, and have not changed beyond what we expect. Also, system performance has remained constant for Groupwise (TCP) client access.

Thoughts? Any suggestions?
