So I've had CIFS configured for a while, but never really used. Now I have a few 64 bit XP machines that need to connect to the network (no nw client available). I've got the CIFS shares configured, but the problem is I also have cluster services running and my normal Netware login drive mappings are pointing to virtual names. So when a server fails, the volumes all fail over to the remaining server, but since these 64bit machines are mapping to the CIFS share of a physical address/name, they loose their mappings to the volumes that were attached to the dead server.

In my testing, I've found that I can map the virtual names via IP, but not the name itself. DNS is configured as I can ping the name and it responds to the correct IP, but I suspect that DNS isnt a factor in this resolution? So I'm guessing its an SLP thing maybe?
