Got a weird situations where I'm migrating file stores for elementary students from a smaller NSS volume to a larger NSS on a bigger server.
Server is a newly updated to SLESSP3/OES2SP2, fully patched.

Migration went ok, I beleve. Used the OES2SP2 Migration tools to bring the files over, permissions looked like they stayed correct.
Issues now is that as myself, network admin, I can mount the drives and use however I want. Student users, can also mount the drives, but the can crash the AFP stack completely - if they try to change the size of the window of the mounted server.

Best I can tell, its something about the mac attempting to write the .DS_Store - something that happens when you change the position of the window, among other things.
It looks like the .DS_Store file gets written, but with write only for all, which seems a little bizarre.
ELROND:/media/nss/VOL1/studentdirs/2020/28888 # l
total 8
drwxrwxrwx 1 28888 root 0 2010-04-09 14:49 ./
drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 2010-04-09 08:49 ../
--w--w--w- 1 28888 root 6148 2010-04-09 14:47 .DS_Store
drwxrwxrwx 1 28888 root 0 2008-07-24 10:42 Google SketchUp 6/
drwxrwxrwx 1 28888 root 0 2010-04-09 14:45 test/
-rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 0 2010-04-09 14:49 .test
drwxrwxrwx 1 28888 root 0 2007-09-24 00:52 TextEdit.app/

But DS_Store files that I create get the same permissions?

drwxrwxrwx 1 pfuller root 0 2008-07-24 10:42 Google SketchUp 6/

When AFP Hangs, there is no segfault. Just a line in the message log...
Apr 9 14:47:27 ELROND afptcpd[2337]: [debug] zAFPCreate: zCreate failed for .DS_Store with error - 20851 <5173>

Any ideas?
