Hi Guys

We have a setup spread out over the world.
Sometimes we set up a server on a site, sometimes we don't (sites are very short-lived, mostly a few years).
When a site get's a server, the case (a folder) for the site is moved to the local server, and the centralized folder is renamed to 'xxx-moved to local site'.

I was wondering if we could use DFS, so that we could make it transparent for people accessing the centralized storage if it was located central, or on a local site (disregarding the speed reduction for the distant sites).

Eg.

Main
+---subfolder1
+---subfolder2
+---subfolder3

Changes to

Main
+---subfolder1
+---subfolder2 ----> site-server+---subfolder2
+---subfolder3

If we do this, will it be possible to access the site-server directly for local users?

The speed-penalty for accessing the site-server via a 'slowish' VPN line will of course be present for people in the Main site, but it could be a very lean-mean solution.
