We've been using ZfD 7, and we're preparing to get into ZCM 10 for the first time.
Looking at the Novell documentation I sent that they recommend that the primary server be
used only for ZCM, apparently not even being used to hold an eDirectory replica. Then I
look at the OS requirements and see that they are so low. Our OES2 file and print server
has a 4-core Xeon processor, 8 GB of RAM, and lots of storage. It has power to spare. If
it's really necessary to have a dedicated server that's fine, but with our school budget
being very tight these days I have to justify the expense of a new server. Can anyone
explain the rationale? Based on the specs it looks like just about any low end server
would do. Does anyone have any recommendations above and beyond the minimum? Thanks.
