Hi All,

I've been fighting this one on-and-off for a few months and it's really getting on my nerves (It's also preventing my from decommissioning the NetWare box because I can't migrate iPrint).

I have a NOWS SBE box running on SLES (virtual under ESXi) and I'm having no luck with Apache. It is installed and it will start and stop (sort of... I'll get into that later) but it will not serve pages.

A port scan shows ports 80, 443 and 631 open.

A protocol analyzer shows that the server will not respond to requests on those ports (it sends ACK packets, but no actual responses).

When I start apache2 using "/etc/init.d/apache2 start" I get the following lines added to /var/log/apache2/error_log:

[Fri Jun 25 13:20:10 2010] [notice] suEXEC mechanism enabled (wrapper: /usr/sbin/suexec2)
[Fri Jun 25 13:20:10 2010] [warn] RSA server certificate CommonName (CN) `192.168.0.11' does NOT match server name!?
[Fri Jun 25 13:20:10 2010] [warn] RSA server certificate CommonName (CN) `192.168.0.11' does NOT match server name!?

When started, nothing is added to /var/log/messages.

When I stop apache2 using "/etc/init.d/apache2 stop" I get the following at the console:

Shutting down httpd2 (not running) done

Nothing is added to error_log or messages.

The port scanner shows the ports still open. The protocol analyzer still shows ACKs but nothing else. If I do a "ps ax|grep http" I get the following:

13820 pts/2 S+ 0:00 grep http
14230 ? Ssl 0:00 /usr/sbin/httpd2-worker -f /etc/apache2/httpd.conf -DSSL
14232 ? S 0:00 /usr/sbin/httpd2-worker -f /etc/apache2/httpd.conf -DSSL
31332 ? Sl 0:00 /opt/novell/httpstkd/sbin/httpstkd
31814 ? S 0:09 /opt/novell/httpstkd/sbin/httpstkd

The server continues to listen on 80, 443 and 631 until I kill -9 the two httpd2-worker processes.

I'm out of ideas here and I could really use some advice... anyone got any?

Thanks,

Ian
