I'm looking for advice and experiences with the backup of NSS cluster
volumes running on a mixed cluster with Netware and Linux hosts:

TSM Server Version 5, Release 5, Level 1.0
Linux OES2 SP2 hosts, TSM Client Version 5, Release 5, Level 2.7
Netware 6.5 5.70.08 hosts, TSM Client Version 5, Release 5, Level 1.0

Cluster volumes have their own nodename in the Tivoli configuration and
are set up following the paper by Jason Baseler et al. in 'Using the IBM
Tivoli Storage Manager Backup-Archive Client in Cluster Environments on
UNIX and Linux'.

While this does work in principle trouble starts in my experience when
creating an NTW:UTF-8 filespace with the Netware TSM client. As long as
the filespace is NTW:LONG the volume can be written to the TSM server
both from Netware and Linux. With NTW:UTF-8, however, access is denied
for the Linux client from the TSM server with the following error message:

ANS1357S Session rejected: Downlevel client code version

We actually do need UTF-8, so setting all backup configurations to LONG
is not an option. This is pretty much a show stopper for our migration
plans to Linux, so any input and advice is highly welcome.
