We have a user that reads messages and shortly after, sometimes right before her very eyes, those same messages revert back to unread messages. It does not happen to all messages. It does not matter if the message is from an internal or external user. It does not matter if she has responded to the message or moved the message to another folder. Just all of a sudden it will revert back to an unopened.

The user has no rules set up in her mailbox.
The user has no shared folders set up in her mailbox.
The user has not granted proxy rights to anyone.
After the first occurrence, we had the user change her GroupWise and Novell password, so it is not someone else accessing her mailbox.
There are no maintenance or clean-up routines running when this happens.
On the sender side, the properties of the sent item do show that the message was opened at the appropriate date and time.
This is on GroupWise 8 SP1 hot patch 1, client and servers.

I've tried running gwcheck structure, then contents, then structural rebuild both live mailbox and archives. But she still has the same issue.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what might cause this behavior? More importantly does anyone have any ideas how to fix this issue?

We just received notice today that a second has been having the same problem.
