'Just passing on an observation (in case someone has a similar issue
with FLAG . . . )

I kept getting a "this utility was unable to allocate the volume handle"
error when I ran the FLAG utility.

Documentation, on the Internet, suggested a drive mapping problem as
a cause . . . but everything was mapped out correctly.

As it turned out: FLAG doesn't like a Long File Name on the folder you're
running against--and will kick out the above error. But if you use the old
DOS, 8-character, naming representation, with a tilde ("name-t~1"), FLAG
will work fine.
