Hello all: My seeminly monthly fight with zmd/rug on at least one of our servers has gotten more serious. Usually RUG just breaks and the nu.novell.com source becomes inactive. My normal fix is to remove the inactive source (rug sd X), clear the cache (rug cc) and then restart the zmd daemon (or kill it if it won't shut down). I then add the nu service back in and all is well.

However, as of a few days ago, I am not getting an error "An error occurred while connecting to the server." No other details are available. I have checked our proxy settings and all is good. Other servers connect fine.

So here are my questions:
1. Anyone else seeing this behavior?

2. Do you have a fix?

3. Why does rug seem so fragile?

4. Is there a better way of setting up rug (other than using Novell Customer Center Configuration) ?
