On groupwise 8.02, I'm trying to restore a document from backup by giving the blob file from windows client. The client checks out the document and when trying to check in the blob obtained from backup the error is:

e52c: Impossible to check in document

TID 10024250 says that this happens if you try to restore a document to a different library or if the restoring user isn't listed on the access list of the document.

Both aren't true in my case: I'm trying to restore to the same library I backed up and the user restoring the document is listed in the activity log.

I even tried this: I promoted the user who originally created the document to librarian and the same error again.

The problem occurs during the check in phase of the restore. Really can't imagine why.
