Hello---
This is BorderManager 3.8sp5 on NetWare 6.5sp5, using CraigJ's proxy.cfg.
Cache is on one 15GB volume, traditional file system, set per CraigJ's
tips.

Several webmail websites sometimes fail to load, but after they get
a "gateway timeout," then a "refresh" brings them up.
But sometimes they come up right away, without any drama at all.

The sites in question are set not to be cached (in BorderManager setup).
Read-ahead is not enabled.
The browsers are IE6 and IE7.

In the packet capture, the requests are showing HTTP/1.0. The returned
packets from the sites show HTTP/1.1

Setting in the proxy.cfg is: SendHTTP11Request=1

Users also report that if it fails and they "wait awhile" it will then
work.

Unloading and re-loading proxy or proxy -cc makes a temporary difference,
but if so, only for a few minutes.

This is a sample packet when it fails:

after it gets the "gateway timeout," hitting "refresh" sends this (which
then succeeds):

And this is a sample packet exchange when it succeeds right away (for
example, right after reloading the proxy):
