We're using the default version of rsync from OES 2 to another OES 2 but as volume size grows this is taking longer and longer because we use the "-delete" option so that the target server no longer holds files that users deleted from the source. The "-delete" option for rsync 2.6.x requires a full scan of the volume and reading into memory a file list prior to syncing.

I've read this is greatly improved with RSYNC 3.0 as the file list is incrementally built.

Has anyone tried to upgrade just the rsync to 3.0.x on OES 2/SLES 10.3?
