Hi

I'm running an application which sits on SQL. I'm not sure if the
following is relevant but I'll provide it anyway..... The system DSN

driver (in ODBC) is set to run via TCPIP on port 1433 and
authentication
to the server (not NDS) is again with SQL.

When the user connects (and the laptop works fine when connected
directly
to the network) via the internet the following error occurs:

<Screen shot start>
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-
Connection failed
SQL State '01000'
SQL Server Error: 11001
[Micro$oft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets] Connection Open
[gethostbyname]
Connection failed
SQL State '08001'
SQL Server Error: 11
Micro$oft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]General Network
Error.
Check you network documentation.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
<Screen shot finish>

When the user connects via VPN they are able to ping the server's IP address. The user has NDS rights to all ports.

Any ideas on what to try next?
