We upgraded a client's site from a 384k DSL to a full T1 and are
seeing
slower performance much of the time which I think is related to the
VPN.
Here's some data - we're doing client to site only, there is one
Netware
server only, and the client referenced below is my XP/Pro
C32/4.9/b30a.

NW 5.1/SP6
BM 3.6/SP2

When I connected the VPN and look at the statistic, after 1:00 I see
the
following:

0 ipx packets sent
a very low number of encrypted IP packets sent

2400 unencrypted IP packets sent
1500 unencrypted IP packets received

2,500,000 bytes sent
145,000 bytes received

This is with nothing else going on on my machine and no one on the
Internet
at the server site. I don't understand why there is 2.5 meg of
traffic in a
minute when nothing is happening. I am not logging into the remote
server.
(Normally I just pcAnywhere over the private network after the VPN
connection is made but I'm not even doing that when recording these
statistics.) If I let it stay connected for 2 minutes, all the
numbers
essentially double.

Other: The client is on their 3rd ISP in the last 6 months - for each
switch
I've gone through VPNCFG and changed the appropriate public-side
addresses
and that, along with changing the same in INETCFG and FILTCFG, has
been
sufficient to affect a complete ISP/IP_ADDRESS switch without having
to
remove and rebuild the VPN.

I'd appreciate any guidance as to where to look next to troubleshoot
this.
pcAnywhere performance is dismally slow, dial-up-like in speed.

Thanks very much in advance.
