One site even called this "bait and switch", inferring from Google's change of
heart to mean that everyone was given free reign to try to get the devices out
in the market quickly was intentional, with no plans to keep it that way. My
guess is, however, that although folks in the Android realm tend to disparage
Apple for their "locked down" attitude, Google is finding that the fragmentation
of their platform is becoming so great that they can no longer assure that an
Android device will meet company standards for quality.
