I'm trying to get a definitive answer to the question of whether or not a Linux server running any distro (this, of course, includes SUSE) can serve as an ip RIP v2 router. I've come across a lot of articles on various Linux sites that explains what ip RIP routing is and how it works, which, to me, implies that it is doable using Linux, but I haven't found an article that explicitly says it can be done with Linux and how to actually do it.

Reading about route, ifconfig, and routed have not produced an answer. I have even looked into the base kernel settings via 'make menuconfig', but I don't see any kernel settings specific to ip RIP routing therein.

So, the answer is . . . ?
