We recently moved our users into Active Directory with standard “user” rights and have noticed an issue while installing things on XP based systems with “Dynamic Administrator”.

We have noticed that a lot of our install’s attempt to place items into the users profile. On applications ran as Dynamic Administrator this leads to Program File items, Desktop Shortcuts, and App Data info getting placed in the Dynamic Profile and not the profile of the user logged into the system.

We would normally get around this by scripting the creation of Program File items and Desktop shortcuts but we have ran into a few applications that need files in the correct App Data folders.

I’m curious how others are dealing with similar situations, and if there are any known ways to run applications as Dynamic Admin but have the files placed in the current users profile.
