the novell client has a NMAS Authentication option which can be set on or off.

Unfortunately the documentation doesn't give that much info about it:
If this setting is On, Novell Modular Authentication Services (NMAS) is enabled during login. NMAS authentication adds additional security to the network. However, if your network does not use NMAS, login might take additional time and you might want to disable NMAS authentication by changing this setting to Off.
1. Are you guys using NMAS Auth?
2. We have sometimes problems with "slow" logins - could this nmas (which is turned on) be the problem?
3. What are the implications/dangers if we turn it off?
