The original problem was that a message database grew to be 2 GB in size and users were locked out. There are 15 to 20 messages that are duplicating themselves. I was able to clean the message database out and reduce it to about 140 MB using the subjectlist and subjectpurge options. Afterward I ran a reduce only and things looked fine. At that point I ran a maibox/library maintenance. When that was done several offiles directories grew from about 30,000 files to over 300,000 files. When I look at the files they look something like this:

4e4b6185.000
4e4b6185.001
4e4b6185.002
4e4b6185.003
4e4b6185.004
4e4b6185.005
4e4b6185.006
4e4b6185.007
4e4b6185.008
4e4b6185.009
4e4b6185.00a
4e4b6185.00b
4e4b6185.00c

I have two question about this situation.

1. Are these files backup files and can they be deleted (all except the .000 one) or what is the proper way the remove these files.

2. The messages that were duplicating are still duplicating. What is the best way to correct this problem?

Thanks in advance for any help.
