I am installing a new server, the first SLES/OES (or Linux of any sort)
server on this site, to integrate with a mixed Windows Server 2003 &
Netware 6.5SP8 environment. This is SLES 10 SP3 with OES2 SP2, and once
I got past a partition issue, the install has in other ways gone really

However, trying to install & configure eDirectory, so that I can bring
this server into the existing tree, gives me "ndsconfig failed to
configure and start eDirectory". The details from the log file are:

> command: /opt/novell/eDirectory/bin/ndsconfig add -c -t 'AIR_TREE' -n 'ou=Portland.o=Air' -a 'cn=admin.o=AIR' -p -d /var/opt/novell/eDirectory/data/dib -D /var/opt/novell/eDirectory -m no_ss -B -L 389 -l 636 -o 8028 -O 8030 -e --config-file /etc/opt/novell/eDirectory/conf/nds.conf
> sh: /opt/novell/eDirectory/bin/ndsconfig: No such file or directory

Now, I know what "no such file or directory" means, but I don't have a
clue as to how to resolve this. (I am presuming it doesn't come down to
manually creating the directory, but rather fixing whatever is at the
core wrong here.)

I see a thread above with a similar issue, but that seemed to be
resolved by re-installing, and at this point, everything else seems to
be working & I'd rather get this resolved directly and find out what
caused the issue. eDir on the Netware servers is up-to-date and
functioning well otherwise, and as far as I can tell, my info pointing
to the replica server, and login etc., are all OK.

But even if I try to do this after-the-fact, I get the same error,
though just about everything else seems to be fine.

Thanks for any hints etc.
