I've seen a number of posts on here and around the web that either dance around or ask the question of whether the iFolder client works with Apple's Mac OS X Lion (version 10.7) and simply want to share my experience and potentially help someone.

I recently acquired a new MacBook Pro that came with Lion on it and before I did much with it I ran Software Update which downloaded and installed the Mac OS X Update which came in at a hefty 1.41 GB. It updated OS X to 10.7.2.

In preparing to get iFolder running on the machine I verified that X11 for Mac was installed. X11 is a prerequisite for Mono which is in turn a prerequisite for the iFolder client. My installed version of X11 / XQuartz is 2.6.3 (xorg-server 1.10.3).

I then installed Mono 2.4.2.3 using the universal installer (found here: http://download.mono-project.com/arc....universal.dmg) and followed that directly with installing the iFolder 3.8.0.3 client (found here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ifol...c.dmg/download).

I rebooted (some habits / superstitions run deep, I know!) and then was on my way to iFolder synchronization heaven. Everything worked perfectly.

However, I had a problem. Another component of my "must have" tool set is the "free open source, light-weight and easy-to-use password manager" program called KeePass (found here: http://keepass.info). It too uses Mono but a newer version than what I had just installed. After reviewing the KeePass website and thinking on things for a while, I decided to take a gamble and upgrade my Mono on the Mac from 2.4.2.3 to 2.10.5. This broke the iFolder client.

I then uninstalled Mono, uninstalled the iFolder client, and did some manual cleanup of iFolder / Simias stuff that was left behind. I rebooted.

I then installed Mono 2.6 (found here: http://download.mono-project.com/arc....universal.dmg), restarted twice (I'm really superstitious), installed the iFolder 3.8.0.3 client again, and was able to synch with my iFolder (3.8 (ifolder3-enterprise-3.8.0.10191.1-5.1.i586) server.

I followed this with an installation of KeePassX 0.4.3 (found here: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/kee...assX-0.4.3.dmg).

Summary: To run the iFolder 3.8.0.3 client software for Mac on OS X Lion 10.7.2 (and it may even work on plain old 10.7 but I didn't test that) install either Mono 2.4.2.3 or Mono 2.6 if you want to also run KeePass (and WHY wouldn't you want to, huh?) and then install the iFolder 3.8.0.3 client. Oh - and don't go upgrading your Mono!

I hope this helps!
