I found on a couple of systems that the log files (messages, warn,
dhcpd.log, ncpserv.log, ndsd.log, apache2/access_log, zmd*.log, +) have
not been rotating.

In these two boxes case it's been since early March 2012.
Checking messages for errors in logrotate was exiting due to a

About a year after building those servers, I had noticed dhcpd.log
growing way too big without being rotated and created my own
/etc/logrotate.d/dhcp file to deal with it, but clearly in a patch
earlier this year someone in Novell realized this gap and put there own
logrotation in place and tangled it all up with what I had done.

I figured others here may have done the same and hit it too, and I can
imaging others newer to managing these Linux beasties not yet having
enough knowledge to drill down to this.

It is worth checking how big your /var/log has grown to.
A run of "du -hx --max-depth=1" had me find a 3.4GB ndsd.log file as I
drilled down, and interestingly there isn't a logrotate.d file for it,
time to go create one.
