On some of our Notebooks (HP 6570b) PXE boot process stops after loading the imaging kernel from tftp server displaying the line

>Sending DHCP request to eth0 ...<. In the dhcpd.log every 10 seconds a new DHCPDICOVER from this device is logged:

Dec 6 14:31:10 s05zid05 dhcpd: DHCPDISCOVER from xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx via eth2
Dec 6 14:31:10 s05zid05 dhcpd: DHCPOFFER on xxx.xxx.xxx.121 to xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx via eth2
Dec 6 14:31:10 s05zid05 dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for xxx.xxx.xxx.121 (xxx.xxx.xxx.17) from xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx via eth2
Dec 6 14:31:10 s05zid05 dhcpd: DHCPACK on xxx.xxx.xxx.121 to xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx via eth2

If I try PXE with another identical Notebook it works fine. We have seen the same issue also on Intel motherboads with on-board e1000 nic.

I connected the failing device via hub to the switch, configured the port to 100 Mb (1GB FD is the normal mode) but no success. I did also a reset to default settings in the notebook bios, no success.

I am running out of ideas ...

Any suggestions?
