Bundle filters - fail action check box?

Just doing a bundle at the moment that can install one of two MSIs dependent on the machine type so I've done this under the Install section

MSI Action 1 - run student MSI - Filter on environment variable %COMPUTERNAME% does not contain (string)
MSI Action 2 - run teacher MSI - Filter on environment variable %COMPUTERNAME% contains (string)

Then I noticed the mysterious little check box that says Fail the action if these requirements fail and wondering when I'd need this? I just want the step skipped if the filter doesn't match, does that mean I have to fail it to stop the wrong MSI from installing?

Or is the fail option there to stop a whole bundle sequence running if one of the filters doesn't match and as such I can leave it alone to achieve what I want above?

Checked through the documentation and it comes up with this gem...

    Code:
6.36.3 Fail the action if these requirements fail
Select the Fail the action if these requirements fail option to fail the action if these requirements fail.
    Would never have guessed that
